‘Legacy’ {My Toby Keith Poem}

As I write this, I'm listening to Toby Keith. Which is something I have done literally countless times in this past year ever since he died. I've washed the dishes, I've constructed a yellow LEGO dog, I've spent quality time with my mutt, Essie, while listening to Toby Keith. I've weathered, {pun intended}, a windy tornado watch when staying home alone, I've cooked boxed pasta, I've baked Essie dog treats while listening to Toby Keith. And, yes, I've felt his presence while listening to Toby Keith. I even memorized 'Should've Been A Cowboy' without trying to!! My brain sucks.... Memorization is hard for me. This autobiographical poem was composed in, like, five days!! That is a new record for me!! It usually takes several weeks, not days, for me to compose a poem. But this one just came to me!! Peace and Love, Mary Lou

Note.... 'I Wanna Talk About Me', if memory serves me right, was the very first Toby Keith song that I ever heard. And I became an instant fan of his!!

‘Legacy’

{My Toby Keith Poem}

Written by Mary Lou

The radio played his song ‘I Wanna Talk About Me’;

They said it was recorded by a singer named Toby;

He left behind quite an irreplaceable legacy;

I listened to his songs, {both old and recent}, randomly;

On that day we learned Toby died, went to Eternity;

He left behind quite an irreplaceable legacy;

I listened to his songs to honor Toby’s memory;

And I laughed my heart out, because some songs were quirky;

He left behind quite an irreplaceable legacy;

Although I felt sad, I could not cry uncontrollably;

‘Cause Toby put a smile on my face repeatedly;

He left behind quite an irreplaceable legacy;

I sang several songs, some were serious, some were funny;

There was more to him than where he stood politically;

He left behind quite an irreplaceable legacy;

Cancer sucks, yes that is the truth and a reality;

But Toby took his final breath surrounded by family;

He left behind quite an irreplaceable legacy;

The radio played his song ‘I Wanna Talk About Me’;

They said it was recorded by a legend named Toby;

He left behind quite an irreplaceable legacy.

      You have/had a Husky, {Siberian, I am guessing}, am I right? Essie, my mutt, has 37% Siberian Husky in her D.N.A.!! She is my Wild Child, sometimes crazy, and all Drama Queen!! Can y'all give me any Siberian Husky tips?! ;)

      Essie is a wonderful girl!! Although I affectionately call her my Wild Child, {because she is}, at the same time, I also consider her my Lazy Bones!! For someone who has 37% Siberian Husky in her D.N.A., she's, {believe it or not}, the quietest and most chill dog that I have ever been Mutt Mom to!! But then again, Essie also has 11 breeds, {plus Wolf}, in her D.N.A., so there's that!! ;)
      Lots of exercise. I agree, Siberian Huskies do need lots of exercise. But.... Exercise comes in many different forms, right? Aside from walks, {which are important}, there is the Zoomies through our HUGE fenced-in backyard, {which Essie does literally every single day}, and there are puzzle games, {Essie has two of those in counting}, plus she is a good girl with zero destructive behavior issues!! ;op
